Absract. The article outlines the scope and methodological principles for
the compilation of a Chrestomathy with samples of the literature of the Bulgarian
Catholics in the period XVII – XXI centuries. Its significant representatives from diachrony to synchrony are summarized. The project of the Chrestomathy aims at delineating the cultural identity of the marginal group of Banat Bulgarians as part of a much larger and long-standing tradition. Such a product of linguodidactics and literary history would be useful not only for Bulgarian studies, but also for the typological study of foreign linguistic and literary influences on the Bulgarian
Catholic community in Bulgaria and abroad, for the interlanguage contacts of Bulgarian with Latin, Italian, Croatian, Romanian, Hungarian language.
